Blogging from India
Feb. 16th, 2008 10:29 pmThe weather's been unseasonably cold. Delhi airport greets you with a smell of smoke. The trees are tall and dusty. The entire city is a slowly-moving traffic jam that hoots and honks like a herd of dinosaurs.
Today, at a red light, there were countless cars, three trucks, assorted motorbikes, about twenty three-wheeler "auto-rickshaws", two buses painted light blue and yellow, bicycles, tricycle carts loaded with goods, and two elephants.
I'm frustrated. Delhi's full of interesting and curious sights. I can't get any good photographs because (a) there's dust+smoke+fog haze over everything (b) when I see something like the elephants (unusual but not rare, even for Delhi), we're past it too fast for a snap (c) the traffic is so apalling I don't feel like telling the driver to go back (or follow those elephants!) because it'll take forever.
