2010 Ahoy!
Jan. 1st, 2010 04:29 amThe new year blogpost by
deliasherman inspired me to think about my own writing goals for 2010. Here they are:
1. Polish up two YA novels, Tanuki and Treachery and The Twelve Impossible Tasks , and find the guts to find an agent.
2. If the non-fic book proposal goes through, write the book.
3. Decide whether I want to write another YA novel in the same world as the first two, or write a different book entirely. I have one in mind, based on a short story that's not working at that length.
4. Produce whatever flash/ short stories demand to be written. These short pieces can be awfully insistent.
5. Send them out! A writer friend assures me that the number of editors who will break into your home and search your hard drive for stories is vanishingly small.
On another tangent...
A few glasses of wine enhances one's willingness to recite Shakespearean soliloquies, but tends to muddle recall of the lines. For some reason, To be or not to be ends with Out, out, brief candle, life's but a walking shadow that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more.
To bed, to bed, to bed. [<-- This actually makes sense.]
Happy New Year, everyone!
