Happy Diwali!
Nov. 5th, 2010 02:44 amIt's that time of the year again, when Halloween and Diwali rub shoulders in a glorious bright celebration of returning winter. Last year, Halloween was at World Fantasy Con in San Jose. This year, I didn't go; but instead got to put up decorations (pumpkins and oversize spiders). There's a pair of pointy-toed lace-up calf-length boots I seem to wear only at Halloween, and this year was no exception; with blue jeans, a decorated velvet vest, a sash and a head band and I was a good-enough pirate armed with candy instead of grapeshot.
Now, five days later, it's Diwali. Where I live there are few Indian families, but my email's lighting up with Diwali greetings from India. If you search for Diwali images on Google, the page lights up with them too. It'll be virtual fireworks for us, since they're not legal here in San Francisco, but real candles.
To everyone who's willing to celebrate, Indian or not: HAPPY DIWALI !
