Website Frustration
Jun. 7th, 2009 12:17 pmAll I'm trying to do is to make my website and my LJ look good. Since I'm using tools and templates already provided, it should be easy. It's not rocket science.
No, but it's complicated.
I redid my website (Godaddy, Website Tonight tool), and was happy with what I got.
I asked my online writing group for feedback, and they suggested a few tweaks, which I made. They confirmed it looked fine. Then I asked someone else, who looked at it on a new computer with Vista.
"Looking good," she said, "But the text size is too small. I have to squint even wearing glasses." I painstakingly enlarged the text size on my home page. To my eye, it looked too big. I had no idea what it looked like to her.
Today I fired up my old computer, and looked at my website. The bottom half of the title was cut off, The text spacing was odd (though acceptable). I looked at my LJ at the same time, and found the text was in different sizes. I'm guessing the difference is between text I've typed in and stuff that's cut and pasted.
So clearly my website and LJ are a more individual experience than I had thought. Was it good for you?
