Kater Cheek's e-publishing Adventure
May. 18th, 2011 09:11 amI've been thinking for a while that this is where the future is going. Ever since I got a Kindle, it's been easier for me to get electronic books than paperbacks (and they don't fill up my shelves and multiply surreptitiously).
So I'm delighted that Kater's the first of our group to go for it. She has two awesome stories up on Smashwords, currently available free, but soon to be 99 cents. After a mention on Boing Boing (Cory Doctorow was one of our Clarion instructors), she's getting all kinds of download numbers...
Take a look -- it's here and it's free and it's two great short stories.
"Two literary science fiction short stories about women making difficult life choices.
"What if you could keep your children from getting any older? Would you let them age naturally, or keep them little forever? "Emily's Fifth Birthday" explores this idea.
"In a world where health is for sale, what lengths will people go to buy it? How much (or how little) proof do people need that it works? 'Alternative Medicine' introduces a medicine that is deadly--at least for some."
